Our Tax Controversy Group has experience protecting the rights of taxpayers in their dealings with CRA

As soon as the CRA starts to audit an individual or a business, it is creating a record which can be used against the taxpayer to assess liability for taxes.

We advise clients from the initial audit stage to the CRA appeal process. We also represent clients at the Tax Court of Canada and the Federal Court.  Prior to a trial, we negotiate with the Department of Justice counsel to reach a fair settlement.  This representation is essential to counteract the record created by the CRA during the audit process.

In many situations, we act as a resource for accountants or other lawyers in their dealings with the CRA.  Our communications with clients on these matters are protected by solicitor-client privilege.
