About Ian
Ian MacDonald is BOYNECLARKE LLP’s Director of Lawyer Development, leading the firm’s efforts to support associates in their growth, performance, and long-term success. He focuses on building the systems, coaching, and development pathways that help lawyers excel in their careers while strengthening the future of the firm.Ian has spent more than a decade helping organizations and leaders across Atlantic Canada align people, systems, and strategy to achieve lasting results. His background in education, business, and organizational improvement gives him a practical understanding of how people learn, how teams succeed, and how to build careers that last. A lifelong Nova Scotian, he is driven by a commitment to improving quality of life in this region, a focus that now shapes his work with lawyers at BOYNECLARKE.
Beyond the firm, Ian serves as Chair of the Board at the MacPhee Centre for Creative Learning, a nonprofit empowering youth through the arts. He lives in Nova Scotia with his wife and three children, and enjoys time in the garden, playing guitar, and tending to their backyard chickens.
