BOYNECLARKE LLP would like to congratulate Brian P. Casey on his success at the McGill University’s 53rd High School Debating Tournament on Oct 27-28, with his Sacred Heart High School  Debate Team. The tournament is the largest high school debating competition in North America with 200 high school students taking part.

The Sacred Heart Team did extraordinarily well, as Brian coached grade 9 student Rory Flynn to a First Place Overall will. Rory is the first junior high student to win the tournament in the 53 years it has been running. In addition, Rory won the award for best junior high debater in Canada.

Brian has been coaching the Sacred Heart Debate Team for over 10 years now. In the 10 years they have attended this Tournament, this is the 5th time a Sacred Heart student has won first place, as often as every other school in North America put together.

Not only did Brian’s debaters achieve great success this past weekend, but in 2012 they have placed 1st in Canada at a variety of other tournaments, (U of T and Nationals, for example). Brian’s recent graduates placed first at the University Nationals and at the University novice tournament.

Brian is an associate and practices in the firm’s Commercial and Criminal Litigation sections. He has been elected the 2012 Provincial Coordinator of the Nova Scotia Debating Society, which organizes high school debates.

This is a testament to the amazing work Brian has done with the team. Congratulations Brian!
