About Makenzie

Makenzie is an Associate in both our Real Estate and Business Law teams. Makenzie’s goal is to provide excellent service and establish longstanding relationships with his clients in both Nova Scotia and New Brunswick as he helps them navigate residential and commercial real estate transactions, as well as business operations.

Born and raised in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Makenzie is currently a member of the Nova Scotia Barristers Society and a practicing transfer of the Law Society of New Brunswick where he will be called to the Bar in October 2024. After working for over three years in the public service, Makenzie received his Juris Doctor from the University of New Brunswick Faculty of Law in 2023. During law school, Makenzie worked as a Judicial Intern for the Honourable Justice Denise LeBlanc at the New Brunswick Court of Appeal, and as a Research Assistant for different law professors. This experience helped Makenzie establish strong legal research and writing skills that help him identify solutions to his clients’ legal challenges accurately and efficiently.

Makenzie is passionate about sports and giving back to his community. Makenzie played goalkeeper for Team New Brunswick and Team Atlantic at different national and international soccer competitions, including representing Team New Brunswick at the Canada Games. Makenzie is also an avid golfer. In Makenzie’s final year of law school, he was the President of UNB Law’s Golf Society where he organized the UNB Law Charity Golf Classic, which raised nearly $3,000 for Ronald McDonald House Charities® Atlantic. Makenzie chose to donate the tournament proceeds to RMHC® Atlantic because of his past work with the charity as a Business Development Intern where he helped solicit donations and organize events to raise funds for Atlantic Canadian families with sick or injured children.

Makenzie also enjoys watching the NBA, NFL, and NHL, riding his electric bicycle around HRM, and playing the drums.
