About Kayla

Kayla is an Associate on our Business and Criminal Litigation teams. Prior to joining the firm as an Associate, Kayla participated in our Summer Student Program and subsequently completed her articles with the firm.

Originally from St. John’s, Newfoundland, Kayla obtained her Bachelor of Engineering from Memorial University of Newfoundland in 2018. She worked as an engineer in the shipbuilding industry for four years before transitioning to law.

In 2025, Kayla earned her Juris Doctor from Dalhousie University and specialized in Criminal Justice. During law school she volunteered with the Elizabeth Fry Society, Innocence Canada, and the Dalhousie Legal Aid Service where she gained meaningful practical experience assisting members of the community. She also received awards for achieving top marks in several law courses and represented Dalhousie University at the National Gale Cup Moot Competition.

Outside of work, Kayla enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, photography, paddleboarding, and hiking with her dogs.
