Changes to child support came into effect May 1, 2006. The Family Law Guidelines had been unchanged since their introduction in May 1997. The new guideline amounts increase the monthly amount payable by payors to payees, and in some cases the increase may be significant. Any person paying or receiving support should be aware of the changes as the new tables amount to a change in circumstance which may very well merit a change in orders and/or agreements.
