BOYNECLARKE LLP congratulates Partner John S. Fitzpatrick, Q.C. on his retirement from the Saint Mary’s University Board of Governors. John served on the Board with distinction for 20 years, including the last four as Board Chair.

John’s commitment to the governance of Saint Mary’s University and his passion for student success are to be commended. John is a very proud Santamarian (BA ’81) and is grateful for the opportunity to have served with so many committed Board colleagues, university administrators, faculty, and students. He is one of more than 40,000 proud Saint Mary’s alumni.

Over his 30 year legal career John has been a committed volunteer for a number of community and professional organizations. Currently he is a member of the World Wildlife Fund Canada Board of Directors.

John is a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal and the 2014 Weldon Award for Unselfish Public Service. The annual Weldon Award for Unselfish Public Service recognizes alumni who have made outstanding contributions to the community and the legal profession. In 2005 John was a recipient of the Canadian Bar Association Community Service Award.

As Chair of the firm’s Mortgage Enforcement and Collections Team, John has been regularly included in Best Lawyers in Canada and was awarded Queen’s Counsel in February 2008.
